Introduction/Objectives of the Study

Too often technology projects designed for primary and secondary schools are less successful than anticipated. One reason is that project planners often fail to pay enough attention to the context in which teachers work and the factors that affect the success of new programs. In this research TERC explored some of these factors as they pertained to EnergyNet , a telecollaboration project.

This research is based on structured interviews conducted with the teachers and program staff members who participated in EnergyNet. Specifically, the research focused on factors that affected full implementation of the program, with the goal of informing the EnergyNet staff and participants as they planned for 1995-96, and of informing researchers and curriculum designers working with other telecollaboration projects.
