TERC, in collaboration with the Mars Exploration Education and Public Outreach Program at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), is developing curriculum designed to engage students' interest in the exploration of the planet Mars. The modules are part of the education outreach initiative of NASA's Mars Exploration Program. This on-going program will send a series of spacecraft to investigate Mars over the next decade with the first two launches in this series taking place in November and December of 1996. The curriculum is investigative in nature and is part of NASA's on-going effort to increase students' interest in math and science. The modules use Mars-Earth comparisons to help students develop a foundation in space science, planetary geology, global science, image and data analysis. Each two to three week module includes student and teacher materials. We are recruiting teachers (grades 6-10) to field test materials during the 1996-97 school year. These activities have no technology requirements.
