Alan Feldman, Ph.D., was the co-principal investigator on the first grant (Alice/Collaborative Inquiry Testbed) and principal investigator on the second grant (Testbed for Telecollaboration). Formerly a teacher and school head, he has been engaged in research and development at TERC since 1990. Most recently, he has been developing and evaluating systems of school-based support to assist teachers in integrating technology in their teaching.

Cliff Konold, Ph.D., served as the director of research for the Testbed for Telecollaboration in its final year. He is associate research professor at the Scientific Reasoning Research Institute, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, where he has worked since 1984. He is currently directing classroom-based research on how students reason about data in a networked environment.

Bob Coulter, Ed.D., worked on the Testbed for Telecollaboration staff during the 1995-1996 school year, and he has worked closely with the project since then. He has 12 years of teaching experience in the upper elementary grades and is currently an educational technologist at the Missouri Botanical Garden, where he is developing and managing an environmental monitoring project seeking to apply research on network science curricula to the use of GIS software in schools.

Research associates Brian Conroy and Charlie Hutchison and research assistant Nancy London played important roles on researching and writing of this book. Brian and Charlie currently work on a variety of research and development projects: both are former teachers of elementary and middle school students. Nancy has finished her graduate studies and is pursuing a career in public health.
